What do you do at Pulpit Rock?
I manage the church grounds and landscape, directing and performing mowing, trimming, along with tree and shrub maintenance and removal. Perform weed management and spraying of both turf and landscape beds to minimize weeds. Manage and maintain irrigation systems. Assist the facility department staff with building maintenance tasks that we could handle in-house.
What did you do before you joined our staff?
Graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1981 with a degree in Recreation and Park Administration. Worked in Cheyenne Wyoming as the Assistant City Forester for 3 years and then as a Landscape Forman for a private Landscape Company an additional 3 years. Was hired as Park Manager at Fox Run Regional Park and later promoted to the El Paso County Parks Division Manager position. I retired from El Paso County Parks after 26 years of service and operated my private Landscape business until coming to work for Pulpit Rock Church.
An interesting thing about you is…
I’ am an Air Force brat and we moved to the family farm in Wyoming when I was in 8th grade after dad retired as an F4 Jet Mechanic in Las Vegas. The farm was homesteaded by my great grandparents in the mid 20’s. We grew up spending a month at the farm every year for dad’s entire 20-year career.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy landscaping, horseback riding, and gardening. We would spend vacations with Karla’s mother and family for the 20 years they owned a time share in Steamboat Springs and would exchange and travel to awesome places over those years.
